Using Alternative Therapy for Stress and Anxiety
Most holistic practitioners agree with the argument that there is more to our body and mind that most professionals seem to accept. Some say that the way the mind, thought process and instinctive behavior all influence our steps in which you tackle your day-to-day life. There are many external and internal factors that ultimately form your emotional and physical state state of mind. Sometimes these can be positive, but also negative. Those well-versed in alternative therapy tend to all say that every person’s well-being is a function of energetic balance and that any block of energy flow is the cause of most illnesses. There are others who state your overall wellness strictly depends upon your ability to connect with your higher self to form that state of tranquility. The truth is that there is no definitive proof to any of these statements. However, many people are quite aware, perhaps intuitively, that there is more to their physical bodies and what is capable of, which is why they decide to seek alternative therapy for anxiety and stress.
Take the case of one of our clients, who shared with us his first (skeptical) experience at a Reiki session through Koshas. He felt stressed, out of balance, and flat-out exhausted, which is when he knew that something was wrong. His energy levels were low, his emotions high and he had felt stuck in this less-energetic form he was now in. His immune system had started to take a dive leading to even higher anxiety levels along with frequent illness which we believed to have been directly related to his raised levels of stress.
Story of Success with Alternative Therapy
During the session, the practitioner combined a mix of hypnosis and Reiki on the client after a long discussion with the client focusing on all he can remember about his symptoms and his negative experiences during this time, as well as his goals for the therapy. After learning more about the emotional and physical issues present, the practitioner uses this information to personalize an alternative therapy plan to relieve his stress & anxiety. This usually starts with some calming background music which helps decrease blood pressure allowing the client to feel relaxed during the treatment. Then the client is asked to get comfortable on a stretcher bed and to close his eyes. Through a series of spoken suggestions, she put our client in a deep state of relaxation, where he was fully conscious of everything around him, yet completely relaxed and open. The practitioner went on to scan his current state by running her hands slightly above him and sensing his energy through different energetic centers (also known as chakras). She would then focus on those that were negatively impacted and ensure a complete balance between them followed by a series of positive messages related to what she found.
Progress and Results You Can Achieve
The entire session, including the first conversation, lasted about 90 minutes. At the end of the session, the practitioner indicated our client had three energetic centers blocked: one in the root chakra, which exacerbated his need to control his environment and to hold on to past events that festered inside, another one in the solar plexus chakra, which affected his self-esteem and confidence in his ability to realize his goals, and another one in the throat chakra, which distorted the way he communicated with others and with himself. Through the session, the practitioner picked up on energetic cues that she shared with the patient, such as his level of responsibility at work, some dynamics with loved ones, among other things. At the end of the session, the practitioner mentioned she had unblocked the chakras, though he needed to actively work on these areas (for which she provided some literature).
Post Therapy Results & Symptoms
The following day, our client experienced flu-like symptoms and contacted the practitioner to ask. The practitioner mentioned that at times, some patients with major blocks experience similar symptoms as the energy starts to flow properly again through the body. The day after the symptoms had fully subsided and through the following days our client noticed increased levels of energy, more awareness and connectedness with his personal and work environment and a renewed sense of purpose. He went to a few more sessions with the same practitioner and since then he engaged in meditation practices as a way of connecting with himself and avoiding blockages through positive affirmations.
